YODLEE: USING INSIGHTS TO EXTEND INTO NEW INDUSTRIES 

SITUATION 

Yodlee is a data aggregator and technology company that enables banks, developers, and innovators to build and transform financial apps and services with access to financial data through APIs and digital solutions. While Yodlee financial data is used extensively by certain industries, they continue to grow by exploring how to extend the value of the data across new industries. In this project, they specifically wanted to understand the current usage, gaps, and upcoming needs of multiple types of retailers, and to get their specific feedback on a data product Yodlee was considering. 

APPROACH

We recruited a group of retailers across categories and onboarded them to a beta of the product prototype in order to learn more about how they defined the product, how they might use it, what and why they would or wouldn't use, and more. Through a three-part research process across the beta period, centered around in-depth interviews and specific trial activities, we learned the potential opportunities for the new product, and the obstacles to be overcome. Based on these insights we developed recommendations for future product strategy and key messaging.
